Chris Young Heart Warmers Update
Great job, Chris Young fans! Meri, founder of the Heart Warmers project, collected more than 100 quilts from fans and displayed them at the fan club party for all to enjoy. What a colorful and creative array of blankets! Submissions included no-sew quilts, crocheted covers, hand sewn blankets and more in all sizes and colors.
Chris recognized Meri for heading up the project at the fan club party and it was agreed the program would be ongoing.

Wow, where do I begin... it's been an eventful and exciting time from the time I met Chris up until now. It seems like I have known Chris forever but I haven't... Let me go back a few years to the first Nashville Star... Buddy Jewell. Buddy and I go back to our high school days. We reconnected after I saw him on Nashville Star. Through Buddy I met several others on the message board. Two of those people happen to be Russ & Judy from Massachusetts. It was through them that I met Chris.
I have supported Chris and his music before he even decided to audition for NS. When he made the regionals I came with my friend Shannon with posters and buttons in hand to support him that night. Then he made the show! I was so excited!!! Could this be my second Nashville Star? Well you're darn right he was... there was no question about it. I was there the night he won. Couldn't have been sweeter. We waited until well after midnight to see him over at the Palace but it was worth it. Seeing that smile of his and getting the best hug was the icing on the cake that night.
He truly is a star and I can't wait until Chris is a major star. It will happen! Working closely with Becky and Terri I have continued to this day to create Chris' myspace page designs and many other commercially printed products ranging from posters, tshirt designs, bumper stickers, bus bench signs, bathroom door signs, etc. I am so proud that I can be a part of Chris' team. Thank you Chris, thank you for everything... you truly are a STAR!

Chris to Hit the Road with Martina this Summer!
Look for Chris to join Martina McBride and Jack Ingram in July and August. Do your summer plans include one or more of these shows? If so, please take your Chris Young signs and sport those t-shirts! Fans showed off their signs and shirts during CMA Music Fest---let's keep the support going all summer!
Here's where to find Chris:
*This was a series of firsts for Keith and I to start off this summer. Keith's first time in Nashville, our first CMA Music Festival and our first Fan Club Party.
To say we were impressed is an understatment. The whole CMA Fest can be overwhelming due to it all of the variety of things to do. But if you belong to a Fan Club, then you absolutely MUST attend a Fan Club Party.
Keith and I belong to Chris Young's Fan Club. I know, I know...no big surprise to those that know us really well, As far as we are concerned, Chris is the best singer, songwriter and performer to come out of Nashville in a very long time. He is also the most down to earth and personable artist out there. So, when the day dawned for us to go to our very first Chris Young Fan Club Party, I could barely contain my excitement. This was our opportunity to meet up with people that I have only "met" via MySpace or through Chris's Message Board. AND to hook up with friends that I had not seen since New Years.
Lucky for us, Keith and I were staying close by the Texas Troubadour Theatre where all of the festivities were taking place. We saw that a big line was starting to form, thank goodness, in the shade. For those of us who where there, CMA Week averaged 95 degrees with 100% humidity. Truly, the only downside to the week. Thank goodness for air conditioning and lots of bottled water, we managed to make it through the stifling southern heat.
As we entered the Theatre, we were impressed with it's size as well as the fact that wherever you sat, you had an awesome seat to watch Chris while he was on stage. The lighting was great for photography and Keith made darn sure he took advantage of taking lots of photos to add to his collection. Another impressive thing occurred while we "waited" for all of the fans to enter and get settled. We were entertained by singer/songwriter Thom Shepherd. For those of you who don't know, he co-wrote "Redneck Yacht Club." We thought he was awesome.
Chris came out with his band shortly thereafter and blew us away at 10am in the morning with his "morning voice," and song selections. I could barely contain myself when I saw Sandy, DJ and Trish standing in the back by Billy (sound and lighting) with the now famous..or should I say INFAMOUS "Bust a Move" sign. I jumped up to join them and we started dancing to some of the uptempo songs. We did our own version of "Bust a Move," mimicking Keith's dance moves, LOL...Sorry Keith....You made us laugh all week with your singing and dancing. You see, when Keith is HAPPY he sings and dances. If you were anywhere near him, YOU will know.
Hot Air Balloons, Food, Fireworks and CHRIS!
4th of July in Ridgeland, Mississippi
This family friendly Fourth of July celebration offers a wide variety of activities and experiences for all ages. Each year thousands gather near Northpark Mall and enjoy good food, wonderful music from regional and national acts, hot air balloons that paint the horizon at dusk as they light up the night sky, and a breath taking fireworks display that leaves everyone with a patriotic feeling unlike any other celebration. Food vendors serve up Southern favorites such as fried turkey legs, funnel cake, bar-b-q; and they wash it all down with homemade lemonade and sweet tea. Musical acts get the crowd in a fevered pitch as we lead up to the balloon glow and the fireworks. After the sun starts to go down, and when darkness sets in, the balloons inflate and glow to provide a beautiful skyline dotted by the varied colors of the balloons. When the balloons are packed away, the crowd is excited with anticipation of the night's main feature. The fireworks display is 20 minutes of the loudest and most colorful in the state. Everyone's eyes are fixed on the sky as they marvel over the fireworks

This event is a segment of the Annual Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Festival held in Canton, MS July 4 - 6.

Our "dancing" group grew larger as Towee, Tracy and Bubba joined us. And during "Lay It On Me," Chris jumped up off the stage and skidded in front of our group to bust a move for a bit with us! OMG, it was awesome. I think he took everyone by surprise and was so fast, that we did not capture the moment on film. So, if anyone did, please share it. I think you will see all of us with our mouths open with surprise. Oh my! After several songs, the band retired and Chris did several songs acoustically. My favorite part of the day....Chris's Grandaddy joined him on stage to sing a duet of "Beggin' To You." But before he started to sing, he cracked a joke that had the entire room rolling with laughter. Then he started to sing and immediately our laughter turned to tears. Chris's Grandaddy made our hearts melt and I was so honored to be in the same room with them. There was not a dry eye in the room, I'm sure.
After he did his acoustic set, he answered a couple of questions from the Message Board. One of them was from TugnChase, regarding how Chris collaborated with Willie Nelson on the song, "Rose In Paradise." For those of you who don't know, TugnChase are our dogs and the whole place erupted with laughter when they heard the name of the "person" asking the question I didn't realize how many people knew about TugnChase, so I was tickled when people came up to me later to tell me how cute it was that the dogs "asked" a question. Thanks Chris for being such a good sport.
After the question and answer session, several Fan Club members got up to recognize Chris's SuperMom Becky, Terri , Fan Club Prez "extraordinaire" and DJ, our "clever and tireless" Street Team Leader, with tokens of our appreciation for making the whole CY Experience so much fun throughout the year! Chris then went into a side room where people started to line up by groupings to meet with him and take photos. While we all waited our turn, we were then entertained AGAIN, by Billy Yates, David Kroll and The Broussards. Can I just say WOW!!! We were in the company of Greatness and were thoroughly entertained by these wonderful artists. Again, I was delighted to learn that Billy Yates and David Kroll will also be with us on the Cruise. Crusin' with Chris is going to be a blast!
In addition, to the musical events going on, there was also a silent auction for St. Jude's Research Hospital. Chris had donated signed photos, shirts, posters, etc. for this and I am happy to say how nicely St. Jude's made out during the silent auction. Also, some of the blankets and quilts were displayed in this side room for all eyes to see. There were well over 100 blankets and quilts to be donated in Chris's name to the children of St. Jude's. A special thanks goes to Meri who organized all of us who donated blankets and for making this a HUGE success. I know I was inspired to make blankets and I don't even sew.
All in all, this was one of the best experiences we have ever participated in. I love the family touch and the longtime friends who help pull this off. The hard work and dedication is noticed and so appreciated. A special Thanks goes to Chris himself. I know he had hardly any sleep leading up to his party, due to all of the activities he participated in during CMA Week, but you never knew that based on his performances, patience and kindness to all of us. When you met up with him during the Meet and Greet, he gave you his undivided attention and focused on you and what you had to say. Chris YOU ROCK! and we just love you for being YOU! Thanks for making our first fan club experience one we will always cherish!
